Biography

Deborah Zelinsky, O.D., F.N.O.R.A., F.C.O.V.D. is the executive director of the Mind-Eye Institute, an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between 21st century neuroscience discoveries and 20th century methods of eyecare diagnosis and treatment. During the past thirty years, she has developed methods to assess brain function, testing the overlooked linkage between eyes and ears. She is a frequent grant reviewer and consults internationally. She also presents workshops discussing how the retina is comprised of brain tissue. In 2013, she was presented with the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association’s Founding Father’s Award. Along with Donalee Markus, Ph.D, Dr. Zelinsky is featured in the 2015 book “The Ghost in My Brain: How a Concussion Stole My Life and the New Science of Brain Plasticity Brought it Back” by Dr. Clark Elliott. She is also cited in the afterword of Norman Doidge’s 2016 paperback New York Times Best Seller, “The Brain’s Way of Healing.”
